Creating Opportunities in Our Community
As Chair of this year’s United Way Campaign and member of the Board of Directors, I have seen firsthand the impact of our community's generous commitments to help one another. This giving attitude and desire to help others demonstrates the core values of serving others in our community.
As the leaves turn glowing shades of autumn and the temperature reaches perfect outdoor weather for us to enjoy what fall in the south means, I take in all the beauty of Northwest Georgia. Fall, for me, is synonymous with the United Way campaign. The much-anticipated annual United Way campaign has officially launched, igniting a spark of hope and goodwill within the community.
Our credo at United Way is to fight for the education, basic needs, and health of every person in our community. We know that change doesn’t happen alone. I am privileged to be surrounded by the best leaders in Northwest Georgia. I witness some of the busiest people I know make time and invest their resources to address our community’s most critical problems.
We are hard at work gearing up for the 2023 United Way campaign! Under the very passionate leadership of Kevin Wright, I am confident we will have another successful campaign to meet the needs of our friends and neighbors.
Get involved and tackle challenging issues in our community through service learning, teamwork, and volunteerism – that is just what thirteen local teens did on June 27-29 by participating in the United Way's GoLEAD service learning and leadership program.
The knowledge and skills kids learn today will prepare them for long-term success, including college and career readiness. Supporting all kids now helps make our schools, workforce, and community stronger. Summer programs provide so much more to kids in our community than a chance to catch up and stay on track academically.
United Way honors volunteers in Whitfield and Murray counties whose service has exemplified a commitment to bring hope, promise, and opportunity to the lives of others.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I think about how fortunate we are to live in a community with a legacy of so many inspiring women. We do not have to look far in our community to find women with vision and a heart for service.
