Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. In May, United Way of Northwest Georgia is joining the movement to raise awareness about mental health. Each year we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public, and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. For 2022’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we will continue to will amplify the message of “Together for Mental Health.” We will use this time to bring our voices together to advocate for mental health and access to care. No one should feel alone or without the information, support, and help they need. Together, we can realize our shared vision of a community where anyone affected by mental illness can get the appropriate support and quality of care to live healthy, fulfilling lives — a community where no one feels alone in their struggle. That’s the Power of Community!
Each year, millions face the reality of living with a mental illness. It is critical for those struggling with mental illness to know they are not alone and that there is help available to them. United Way has created a Mental Health Resource Guide to go along with our Community Resource Guide. These Resource Guides provide access to mental health services, basic needs services, and education services in Whitfield and Murray counties.
