Virtual Career Exploration Event

This is United Way’s 6th Annual Career Exploration; however, due to the ongoing pandemic we had to do get creative in bringing this event in front of our local students. This year, we are so excited to be able to have our first ever Virtual Career Exploration Event!

Our Career Exploration Event is available to over 880+ Whitfield County Schools 4th-grade students. The students will learn about a variety of different jobs that are available to them locally to begin mapping out their career journey. Students will get to watch videos, created by S.T.E.P. Studio, and hear from local members of our community about their occupations and how language arts, math, science, and social studies prepare students for their future.

We are so thankful for our partnership with S.T.E.P. Studio in the production of these videos. It's such an incredible and unique opportunity to be able to work with local students that have a passion for video work and their community!

United Way's Career Exploration program was established in partnership with United Way Community Volunteer and Women's Leadership Council Co-Founder, Dixie Kinard. Seeing the need to introduce the next generation of workers to different career options early in their education, United Way created this workforce development initiative so students can hear from local members of their community about their occupations, understand the education required to work in a particular field, and learn about the variety of job opportunities available to them in today's job market.

The United Way Career Exploration program aligns with our strategic guideline in Education to have youth career and life ready by graduation. The program also supports the Georgia Department of Education's BRIDGE (Building Resourceful Individuals to Develop Georgia's Economy) Act, to create an atmosphere of motivating students to see the relevance of education to their dreams and future plans.

Thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time to invest in future generations! Special thank you Whitfield County Schools and S.T.E.P. Studio for partnering with United Way to make a difference in our community! The Power of our Community to support one another is unmatched!
