The Together Unidos Committee was formed for United Way of Northwest Georgia to have a broader outreach in our community, specifically our Latino Community. The group focuses on promoting the United Way brand, local resources available, and the process of how United Way helps fund our Community Partners. The Together Unidos committee also identifies key business and community leaders while recruiting, engaging, and educating new volunteers and donors.
Antonio Cervantes from Shaw Industries is our Committee Chair. Together with our Campaign Co-Chair, Isabel Pimentel from Engineered Floors, we are shaping our new group to try and reach individuals and families in Whitfield and Murray Counties. To date, we have attended 11 Latino Networking events, where we have shared the United Way story with new business owners. This summer, we had two Spanish Impact Tours. We believe that there are great benefits in learning about United Way through hands-on experiences. By providing Impact Tours in Spanish, we hope to bring a better understanding of what United Way does and how together with United Way Community Partners, we can impact our community. This summer, we also had the opportunity to participate in community events such as The Block 79 Summer Festival, The Digame News Virtual Fiestas Patrias 2021 event, and Veronica Estrada’s Desfile de Independencia Mexicana event.
United Way connects people in need with people who can help. It’s important that we continue to be as present as possible in our community so that if anyone has a need, they know that they can call United Way and learn what resources in our community can best help fill that need.
By bringing awareness to United Way and the resources available locally we believe that we help create a healthier and stronger community.
That’s the Power of Community!
