'Tis the season for gratitude, giving, and lots of turkey. However, amid the coronavirus pandemic, your Thanksgiving festivities might look a bit different this year. Maybe instead of a packed house, you're only entertaining your immediate family members. Whatever the case, there are ways to make your Thanksgiving feel festive and special, even while social distancing.
We've found the best quarantine Thanksgiving ideas you can do at home or safely with your immediate family. From watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade (THANKFULLY, it's still happening this year) to getting the whole family cooking your favorite Thanksgiving recipes, these ideas will help you celebrate! You might even find that taking the time to reimagine Thanksgiving could lead to new traditions that last for years to come.
Need ideas on how to celebrate the holiday?
We have come up with five of our favorite things to do this Thanksgiving:
1) Watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
It'll look different this year, but at least it’s still happening! You'll definitely want to tune in to this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Maybe conduct a family poll on which balloon or float is your favorite!
2) Get Everyone Cooking
Everyone in the house can help get dinner on the table. Kids can roll pie dough and mix ingredients together, and other adults can put together their signature dish. Just because your feast might be smaller this year doesn't mean it has to be any less creative or fun.
Check out one of our favorite recipes. This simple yet delicious cinnamon roll recipe is the soon to be the highlight of this holiday:

3) Gratefull Dalton Give Back Event
On Monday, November 23rd from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM, we can show our gratitude for Greater Dalton with Gratefull Give Back, where Believe Greater Dalton will be collecting shelf-stable items for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to be distributed among their agencies here in Whitfield County. Mark your calendar to help us give back to our community on November 23rd with a drive-by food drive at Burr Park. They will be collecting shelf-stable, single-serve and family size mac & cheese and kinds of pasta, cereal, and single-serve breakfast items, single-serve proteins, canned goods with easy-open (pop-top) lids, peanut butter, along with breakfast bars and snack bars.
4) Cruise Thru - Downtown Dalton "Annual Christmas Tree Lighting"
The Downtown Dalton Development Authority is excited to announce that Friday, November 27, 2020, at 6:00 PM the Christmas tree will be lit in Burr Park for the holidays. Due to COVID-19, we will not have a gathering, but encourage you to bring your family and friends and take a drive downtown to see the lights! Grab a bite to eat or a drink Downtown after you get your "holiday-on"!
5) Support a Cause
